Great news from the large scale train show in the USA. This is a copy of Shawn Conahey's post on various facebook groups.


"USA Trains News direct from the 2019 ECLSTS Show.

I had my usual chat with Charlie Ro Sr owner of USA Trains today during the 2019 ECLSTS Show. I was able to confirm and get some information about future products.

#1 I was able to confirm that USA Trains will indeed make another run of the F3 AB locomotive to go with the aluminum passenger cars.
#2 I was also able to confirm that USA Trains will be introducing a F7 at the same time F3 goes back into production.
#3 USA Trains is working on 2 new diesels besides the F7 but these projects are way off into the future. I can't say what they are at this time.
#4 USA Trains is also working on 2 new freight cars. These projects are also way off into the future. Once again I can't say what they are.
#5 Charlie had asked me to sorta be a liaison between him and the customers by sending him feedback from the comments on the USAT G Scale Group. I accepted.
#6 I saved the best news for last. After a 4 year battle USA Trains was able to get all of their molds back from Kader/Bachman. Look for USA Trains to get back in full production swing in the near future."

I would like to say thank you to Shawn for speaking with Charles Ro and keeping us informed. I had better start saving and also work out how I can create some more storage space.

Shawn is a great USAT enthusiast and I have no reason to doubt what he posted, although I'm personally skeptical of them selling the F3 and F7 at the same time, really does not make sense to me in a limited market, but the F3s have been out of production for some time.

IT will be interesting to see who manufactures these.
 
I think the F7 will be the F3 with different vents fitted. For me that will be close enough for an F7.it also means both could be available at the same times as the vent area ia separate fixing on the F3.
 
I just wish they were imported to over here..
Getting is relatively easy. - Ro's are good to deal with..

It is the carriage-costs, and import duty charges, that are killing me! :(:eek::mad::mad:

Well, the PA diesel has a roof inset, so maybe they will redesign the F3/7 to accomodate that, then same shell, attach different roof and side screens to make 3 or 7....

That sounds like a lot of expensive re-tooling, and new moulds, to me.. :(
 
I hope that "full production" means that they will start making the wood sided passenger cars again. And parts(like observation car railings for these older cars),too!

Hi,Greg. I did a couple of months. They still had some windows for the passenger cars and the cabooses. I bought a few replacement windows for the observation and 2 for the caboose as one of windows on my caboose has a big thumbprint made of glue on it . Left there by yours truly, of course! The glue used by USA trains for their windows doesn't last forever! Darn it! They fellow I talked to said that there was a good chance that they would be getting more replacement parts in soon, but he didn't know when. I've been thinking about calling him again. Maybe this week. I'll think about it. I think that they will be making a mistake if they don't start making more wood side passenger cars again. There is a demand for them. I see them selling on Ebay all the time. I got 2 D&RGW cars , a coach and an Observation car, new in the box for $55.00 each with $23.00 shipping on Ebay a few months ago. I need railings for a project car that
came in a set of 4 cars ( 1 combine, 2 coaches, and a damaged observation car that is missing the entire end cap and railing set up.) .I'm in the process of converting these 4 cars from Union Pacific cars ,and into a set of green D&RGW cars. Here's a video of them all together:
The observation car has the yellow roof. I recently finished all the painting ,and am now considering what limited options are available for lettering them. I want yellow numbers/and letters, and I'm thinking about having them made by Stan Cedarleaf. The problem is that he will probably be asking a small mint for the decals. He'll also want the dimensions, and I'm not sure how to get those. I had him do the decals for my Bachmann custom Virginia and Truckee #26 Big Hauler 4-6-0, and they weren't exactly right thanks to my inexperience with measuring the lettering on these trains. Still, I got pretty decent results, but not 100 percent of what I was going for. I want to do better with these D&RGW cars!
