USA Trains SD-40-T or Aristo SD45

I am converting a battered Rio Grande USA Trains SD70 (black) into an older SD50 (Rio Grande did not have SD70s) and am looking for an SAD40-T or SD 45 to use for the correct bogies and parts of the body like the cab and front hood etc.
So would really like to hear from anyone who might just have a superfluous SD40-T on their roster. Does not have to be in Rio Grande livery as repainting is not a problem.

Re:USA Trains SD-40-T

Hi Richie
Yes it would be a good alternative. I know my 'real' era for the railway even precludes SD50s but I have had this battered SD70 hanging about in the shed for three years now and have concluded that it really needs seeing to.
I will try to contact the guy. Thanks for the heads up

Re:USA Trains SD-40-T

Doubt it, Mr Spock models the late fifties and even the SD40 is way too late for him. I you haven't already, you could try USAtrains (actually Charles Ro) direct - as well as the mechanical spares they list, they do often keep body spares in the form of a handful of disassembled models of each type made at the same time as the main batch, but when they're gone, they're gone. Since you're flexible on livery and even the exact type I'd say it was worth giving them a try.

Re:USA Trains SD-40-T

Hi Jonathan

I have already spoken with Mike at USAT and the combine cost with shipping and VAT for all the bits that I need, let alone the bogies is not cheap. So a broken down one would be the best corse of action at the mo...but failing that I might have to resort to parts from USAT . Aristocraft do not have any body spares for the GP40 or the SD45 at all.

Re:USA Trains SD-40-T

I am still looking so have bumped the thread. I do not mind if the SD45/ SD40 bogie motors are clapped out as I have replacements but the side frames are what I am after together with cab , hood and railings.
