UP Streamline Loco #2906 Build

Great work Jerry looking very nice

I've made a bit more progress on 2906. I take two steps forward and one step back it seems. Not having plans/good pix I find I have to make changes to parts I thought I was done with, but what the heck, it's to keep busy. I got the boxpox wheel castings turned(center axle) and the foil on the boiler/cab. Pencil line shows where I need to trim the side fairings, have since got that done. Working on the steps right now, once those are done I will glue the fairings on.

:thumbup:Looks Great Jerry

I got enough progress done to post a picture. I have not been working too hard! I'm trying to make it so I can take it apart. The side fairings I will glue on once I get them painted. Easier to do all the striping with it laying flat. The boiler/cab come off right now also, will be screwed on, so I can get to the lights/etc. Lights are done, will put them on after painting. Still have the tender to do, so who knows? I'm getting a Shark, so may put this aside if I get that soon.

I got started on the tender. 2906 had a Vandy tender, but I didn't have one so used this one. To make it taller I added a wood plank(thinned it a little after the first pix). The cut off top curved pieces get glued back on it.

Here the tender is glued up. 1/8" plastic on the sides will give me the recess in the back corner for the ladders. Balsa 'planks' on top. The original hatch was cut down to proper size. Embossed foil will cover it, as on the locomotive. Getting closer to paint!

Looking Fantastic Jerry

I got the yellow on the other day. Shot the grey today. Pix shows where that goes. Foot of snow tonight, so hope I can get over to the barn tomorrow to get it!

Looking very striking Jerry keep up the fantastic work

Looking every inch the part Jerry. You are a veritable master at this!

My wife cut the vinyl lettering/stripes for me. She used to have a small sign business and still has her plotter/cutter. Getting the curves just right on the front fairing took some work.

I still have to do the lights and af ew other details and touch up some paint. The chassis runs good on blocks. I plan to use track power right now. It was an old Aristo Pacific and had track pickups on the drivers/front and rear trucks. The used tender I got with it also has pickups on it's axles, so with that wide spread I think it should run smooth on track power. I did wire in a DPDT switch if I want to run it on battery.

Having followed your build from the start Jerry, I can only say WOW! What a beauty. Congrats.:thumbup::thumbup:
