Years ago I used to have to buy (for a Council department), Isopropanol for ultrasonic cleaners which were used for cleaning smoke detectors. All it removes is dirt and not oxidisation.

Being a man with short arms and deep pockets (moths don't leave my wallet - I don't give them chance), I drill down through the rail joiner at the ends of each rail with a 2mm drill bit and then clean up the exterior of the joiner where the holes are. I then use 2mm stainless steel self-tapping screws. The underside of the screw's head makes contact with the cleaned-up joiner surface - thus giving extra conductivity.

Simple and cheap (and effective). All done with the track in situ - no need to remove the LGB joiners (or any other makes). Just make sure of a good screwdriver, or bit, to fit the Pozi or Phillips head.

Also I buy packets (of ten) drill bits. All courtesy of ebay.
