I was fortunate to be offered the chance to drive one for an hour or so on the Osthannoversche Eisenbahnen around 1982. I presume we had a big stretch of line to ourselves as at Mahlzeit, the supervising driver had us just stop the vehicle on the plain line next to a pub, leaving it unattended while we went inside for lunch. It also pulled a weighted trailer, to help trigger the track circuits and level crossing barriers.

Having always put others first, I'm now focusing on myself for the time being. I'm currently working on both my Wuppertal eight-axle Düwag wagon and a KSW trailer. I have primed and painted both.

The housing was completed and primed. Using the remaining paint in the spray can, I also primed the KSW trailer and a few seats. Yesterday and today, I painted the roofs of the front and rear cars blue.

It looks like a never ending story, but now I will finish it by the end of 2025.

I started painting the roof.

The middle part has got it coat. Only a blue 1mm lining is still missing. Some of the 3s printed seats are primed know.

And a second KSW trailor coes to my fleet

Superb job very impressed with the curves in the ends and roofs, how do you manage that so neat? I keep stalling on starting a Nordhausen Combino Duo due to the complex curved ends. Rest of it does not scare me.

Hi Dunnyrail,

I'm sending you a link to the website where I started documenting the build. You might get a warning message. This site hasn't been upgraded to the https standard yet. Sadly, it's only in German.

Here is the website where you can find more information:
building report of tram 3818

I have added the pictures of the roof again. The front and rear curves were made using 1mm plastic sheets and templates. To make it stable, I put these fronts on top of each other three times and glued them properly.

The roofs were made from old LCE roofs. These LCE roofs are the same size as my tram. The old LCE was in really bad condition and didn't work. I cut the roof at the ends so that I could use it to fill in the round parts, as it was 2.5 mm thick.

I will build it without the advertising.

The balsa wood is too soft, which is why there are sometimes dents in the roof.

The holes are filled with a two-component adhesive and the parts are glued together.

The roof was also installed in this way at the end.

I have scaled a drawing in 1:20 to 1:22.5. This way the drawing fits the car and I can take the dimensions directly.
I will also build the roofs for theKSW trailer in the same way.
Peter

Many thanks Peter, I have no excuses now!

I have a collection of miniature ad posters, to glue onto the trams I will build. (Round Tuits and all that...)
The posters are all from long ago. Brands that don't exist anymore. So in my mind, it doesn't count as free advertising.
