As the new year, here in the UK is getting lighter in the evenings (just!) I have finished the working Fairground Organ to go with the Live Steam Showman's Traction Engine all 1/10 th scale. Organ features a MP3 player, with 10watt audio amp. A full lighting display, working drums, conductor. all using a Hornby Elite digital. See pictures.
Now that has been finished I have started to look at a new model tram, I have sourced the following pictures,

as food for thought. I will use a LGB power block for the motor wheels etc pick up will be either track or overhead. Alyn

The final picture is if you chip a tram and you put too much current through the device.:rolf::rolf::rolf: Alyn

Well, modelling a burning scrap store of trams could present interesting challenges, but also, trying to drive a tram with a Centurion tank stuck on the side could also prove a bit tricky :rolf:

I'd go for one of the more straightforward ones, Alyn :thumbup:

:thumbup:Hi Alyn
I love the pictures of the prototype trams , thank you. Derek

I have to admit to a certain fascination

If I hadn't gone Wild West, I could have been very tempted by trams.

Now one way to create a tram is to use the LGB trailer as a starting point. To this one must add a powered truck, and some means of current collection. Trolley pole / pantagraph / bow collector etc.

And the source of your music for your Gavioli?
Have I got a deal for you, I have some 78's that were later put onto 33's "Marching with the Mammoth Gavioli" and I could give them to you in MP3 format. Only one minor glitch they are on a CD somewhere or if worst comes to worst I could re digitise and enhance them for us.... Also comes in very very handy when stopped beside some cretin with his dooooof dooooof music blasting everyones eardums to turn the volume up and the strangest things happen, usually the cretin gives you a scowl but persons wandering by tend to brace up and March, I jest not....

Hi, Trev I have a load of 89 key Gavioli material burnt on to a flash memory chip set. thanks anyway. Alyn

One source of power block is the Bachmann 45 tonner diesel. All is required is to remove the cranks and whizzy bits.

Then wire up the top to make the thing run whilst testing. See pics. Alyn

The modified power block will fit as its wheelbase is as near as damit .What remains is adding the pantograph or trolley pole, plus hooking up to the motor pickups etc .

Here the standard LGB trailer and as modified with the pantograph, power unit, and side advertising boards. The lights (working) came off a HF 130 diesel.

This tram also built the same way, but with headlight roof mounted, and destination board dash mounted.

On this Leipzig tram note the roof mounted light, and dash mounted destination board.

Just found this thread. Nice pics Alyn - particularly the ancillary vehicles - and you've found yet another use for the 45 tonner!

The Krauss has now been fitted with destination boards, and some short wheelbase LGB wogons have been in the spray booth. What remains is numbering etc.

That looks very interesting. I thought some of my crew had absented themselves, they've gone to work for you!!!...

Now the LGB European trams are Germanic in nature, and narrow gauge 1000mm, or slightly narrower, as in the old n.g. Chemnitz system;- see pictures. The red and white tram is restored to an as built condition.
