Trailing Points

Spring points with dampers ar used on the Conwy Valley line.
They also used to be used on the Cambrian coast line to Pwllheli with indicators.

Look, I don't want to get too esoteric8|, but the passing loop on the Ramsey (Isle of Man) pier tramway had spring loaded trailing points. Worked a treat, although the line is now mothballed:(. But it is several hundred yards nearer the mainland than Port Erin...

As to G scale, well for me the problem would be with the pony trucks which, even if sprung, don't carry anything like a prototypical weight, and thus would always derail.

ROBSMORGAN on here has some photos and description for weighting pony trucks that derail..uses lead sheet cut to fit.

Wossy, no need, my pony trucks don't de-rail, but they probably would if I tried to push through sprung points. Not worth the aggro my friend.

It took me a while to think of the name too..... I was thinking hydro-kinetic at first but that was the APT-P's brakes! Lol

I'm happy with hydro kinetic..

Point/Turnouts. One thing I have not seen on GSC is anyone using small RC sevos to operate points or Slow motion point machines such as Fulgurex or Tortoise operated bY pushbutton or switch..
These could also be operated by RC. But then, that would set up another discussion.

Good here innit?:rolf:
I have a Train-line Motor that is a slow motion device?

DC or DCC, it does contain a small servo motor....

When I started out with point motors I used a very realistic one, lost all details of it now but it was someone down in Weston Super mare I think, wish I would keep better records of these things. Anyway, the operation was very prototypical. The only snag was that it did not take well to outside operation, suffered badly in heavy rain etc. I also think it was really for Double oh work and lacked the power to fling an LGB switch across.

The Harz and the Rugen line use mechanically weighted run through points at many passing loops.

Can trailing points be used as catch points to make a reversing loop on non powered track?

If I understand you correctly then yes. You might need to set up some form of spring return to ensure that the blade stays fully over but it should work.
