Really still too hot to run trains. I`m sure the heat and humidity has an effect on DCC chips.
Ran a pickup goods today. The Baldwin is very light footed, and not up to any loads. Slips to a halt on gentle grades, where even the little diesel can cope ok.

Here`s where the diesel had to go out to drag the train up the slight grade into Farnham Common.

And ended up running the whole thing herself.

I do love to see a mixed freight meandering through the countryside (or mango groves??).
Fine looking train. AS Greg says, any chance of filling the tanks with strips of lead flashing (my preferred weighting system)?

It could also be about making sure the pony-trucks aren't carrying too much of what weight there is. I.E getting the weight where it counts.

My only other thought was that Farnham was in Hampshire not Bucks??? ;) ;D ;D ;D

Probably moved the county boundaries again..
Even just for the bank holiday! ;) ;)

Reply to G - Force 1 Farnham Common is with Farnham Royal on the A355 between Slough and Beconsfield Roundabout, used the Forresters in Farnham Common and The Emperor (changed name now) in Farnham Royal.

Well I did say it was only a thought. ;D ;D ;D ;D. They can be rather lonely round here! ;D ;D ;D The Farnham I know is on the A31 near a certain railway that is dear to me.

I did enjoy the goods rake.

Thanks Paul. One (nearest the loco) is a scratch built body on an LGB four wheeled chassis. The other is an attempt on a milk churn wagon - sort of a GW four wheeled siphon, again scratch body on an LGB chassis.

Yes, Farnham Common and Farnham Royal are on the road from Slough to Beaconsfield, in South Bucks. Some distance from Farnham, Surrey. Many a lorry driver has confused them to his discomfort! The lord of the manor of Ferneham was tasked with holding the glove of the right hand of the King in William the Conqueror's coronation, and was therefore allowed to call his manor 'Royal'. The common, now Farnham Common was called Farnham Up End right into the 1800’s. Not many people know that, to quote Michael Caine.

Oh, I meant to add...
Yes it probably could do with more weight in the Baldwin. It's fine with passenger loads - three bogie coaches, but struggles with freight stock. Easy fix - keep it on passenger duties!

No mango groves up here in Northwest Florida or South Bucks! Pine woods though, and along the beach in NWFL.

Ah yes, the pubs of the Farnhams. I spent most of the 70s in the then Emperor of India, which changed to the King of Prussia (as it was called before the 14-18 war) and now back to The Emperor, which is what we called it in the 70s. Then there was the Forresters, The Royal Oak, The Green Man, The Victoria and the Stag and Hounds. In Farnham Royal, The Duke's Head, The Crown and the Jolly a Butcher. The White Horse in Hedgerley, The Stag in Burnham Beaches, The Crown East Burnham, The Blackwood Arms.......

The memories, the memories.....

Labor Day here in the USA, sort of Late Summer Bank Holiday! Good excuse for trains and beer. One panicky moment early in the day when the electronics went haywire, but after a `switch it all off, wait half an hour, and switch it back on` moment, all was well.

Peckett number 6 `Betty` takes some IOM stock and a cattle van around the branch.

I wonder how many of those pubs are still open now? I only moved to St.Neots just under 3 Years ago, we have lost 2 in that time. But another went just before I got here. So. Probably 1 a Year. This is not good for a Modest sized Market Town.

Sunday on the South Bucks. First weekend when the temperature was in the high 70s, low 80s and the humidity was low!
