I used to have an Accucraft Viking, I was not impressed with its running qualities.
I seem to recall that they had issues - don't know if they were better with a battery conversion :think::think::think:

Well it would add weight for better traction, and circumvent any pickup issues..

I don't think weight was a problem. They were blinking heavy. The chassis design and gearing were just a bit crude.
