Toby tram engine

Hi,

Can anyone help with a couple of dimensions from the Bachman Toby to cross check with my scratch build project.

I am well into construction of a scratch built Toby based on an IP engineering chassis. It is not in a running state yet, but I am getting uncomfortable feeling about the amont of swing the couplings (Bachman type) might make given the short wheel base of the chassis and the quite long chassis.

I would like to cross check with a Bachman original (presuming them to be competent enginners !).

So can anyone tell me the wheel base of the Bachman Toby and the overall length over the coupling hoops please ?

Secondly can anyone recommend a low cost ESC (reversing) for the radio kit, low amps about 12 volts.

Many thanks. Peter

I have used this ESC and it does the job; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RC-10A-ESC-Brushed-Reverse-Speed-Controller-2KHz-5V-1A-PPM-Boat-Without-Brake-/271514819672?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Radio_Controlled_Vehicles&hash=item3f378b5c58
It handles 13.5 V as long as you dont want to draw 10 amps, works fine for me with a 3 amp load....
If your load is going to be more than this then this little chap will work well too; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/072-80A-Brushed-ESC-suit-for-2-3S-lipo-Forward-Reverse-parts-for-1-18-buggy-/190876461525?pt=FR_YO_Jeux_RadioComRobots_VehiculesRadiocommandes&hash=item2c711fa9d5
I have one of these and its also happy with 13.5V....

Lots of cheaper single direction ones on the market.....
