Has anyone any tips on speaker mounting for this loco?
I've been asked to fit a Bachmann (Soundtraxx) decoder to a mates loco. No problem, plenty of room I thought. However looking at the diagrams (I've yet to get my sticky mitts on the loco) there seems to be no obvious location to drill holes to let the sound out.

I found the tiny round speaker did not last very long. So now recommend the small 40 mm x 30 mm oval speaker in the same location.
Shop around the net for a replacement for the expensive Phoenix speaker.

At least the Soundtraxx Board is super easy to install. I just shoved one in James today. Now I have a consist of Thomas, Percy, and James, and they fight to avoid being “piggy in the middle”!

I’ll add the speaker and lights later.

Thanks to all contributors.

Toby's owner brought the model round today. The chip and speaker were easily fitted, set up and tested within an afternoon.
I took Tony's advice and used a Visaton K 28.40 8ohm speaker. Whist there is room for a second identical speaker (two 4 ohms in series) this proved unnecessary as the sound was quite loud enough.
