No, they don't open.
I bought a couple with the idea of repainting them for "normal" goods stock. SW likes them the way they are, so no repaint

The whole body is a one peice moulding, so you can't even take the roof off to get stuff in! (My daughter was into putting stuff in and on wagons and coaches when she was younger!)

That said the vans are beautiful mouldings the different colour schemes are very well executed.
