Today was a year to the day that Dad passed away and this whole project went from being a plan on paper to agreed for construction with Mum. I spent the day just playing trains and having some time to myself...
I kicked off with a track inspection and did some maintenance. I have topped up the top soil (no pun intended) along the front embankment, and then tidied up and freshened up the ballast along the top edge. I also generally tidied up the ballast edge all the way around the line.
I've had a lot of different trains running, including Dad's Shay with the logging cars, then the Frank S conversion hauling a logging train inspired by the Romanian forestry lines. Then a typical Steyrtalbahn formation with the U-tank, followed by a freight hauled by the Rugens. The last train was made up of the Zillertalbahn coaches I refurbished this time last year in the weeks after Dad passed away.
