Swift lining

Following the saga of Swift and the Cycling Lion, the M.R. has now taken delivery of an "Owain" body kit.

In the very early stages of sorting the parts, I'm pondering the eventual finished appearance of the loco.
This will be M.R. No 2 "EWAN DAI".
I had planned to paint it in standard livery (Holts Rover BR Green) with fine gold Trimline in a basic frame around the tanks.

Here's where the problem starts... the styling and shape of the tanks suggests lining will be awkward.

I'd like throw it open to discussion...
Any ideas for lining style? There'll be a number on the upper cab with the nameplate toward the centre of the tank.
Suggestions on an email please...

Thank you, Sir, but way too complex (and expensive) for me!
I'm presently limited to a single line - gold Trimline is the current method, subject to wobbly handwork.
Here is my standard livery:-

and this is a crude mod to Rob's web picture:-

I'm not sure it's going to work, visually.

It would be extremely fiddly but you could add re-entrant corners (little inward squares) to your lines.

Thank you Bob,
As you say, fiddly with Trimline, but possible.
Even "Greek key" ought to be possible, but... hmmm!

I was thinking more single re-entrant rather than double like these, but go for it.

These are around 3.5" square and done with a Beugler liner.

Curves can look good as well but you'd perhaps need to source some rings to cut them from.

Very nice, Bob, but my loco's rather smaller than your trailer!

Just been playing with the limited facilities in Windoze:-

Of course, I want the loco in green, and using Win loses the rivets:-

I'd best continue sorting the parts...

That's why I thought it would be a bit fiddly.

I think the lining as you have it is probably best on that shape of tank. Re-entrant or even bull-nosed corners would look a bit too complicated. Inset panelled is good too.

I think you're right.
The tank is actually slightly wider than the bunker, so it won't be possible to carry a continuous line through.
Looks like separate panels is the way to go.

The second picture in post #3 makes that clear. Perhaps straightening the bottom line of the front panel (as post #3) would allow for simple re-entrant corners, with the inside colour changed, and not look too fussy.

The lines could wrap around the level change but that might be tricky with tape as it would probably lift on the inside corner unless cut.

Waiting then, breath suitably baited!

Punctuation can be everything! :laugh::laugh:

Sorry, I don't understand you?

I'm selling a Ragleth power unit and an Owain body kit I've started to build but not finished.
