Hi Steve
I am not sure if you are a member of the G Scale Society or not? The reason for my asking is that I did an article in their Autumn journal about how the layout started back in November 2006. I get 'urges' to do loads to the layout and then I will leave it alone for months just being a static diarama!

Here is part of the garden in 2005/6 before the layout was a twinkle in me eye

This is the Beaver Creek station area as it was in 2008 (it has changed a little bit since then)

This is the quarry area in 2008 but a few buildings and details have been added since then

Mike, looks far better with the railway around the garden
We'll have to come visit soon:thumbup:

Hi Steve (Bigjack)
We are always open!
Especially next GSS open day.... 26th September

love the overview shots with the path stones on the lawn

now i see the context

-the rr makes a lovely garden border-and interest point on its own-with shrubs along the ROW-

while the lawn is accessible and its own feature, as are the garden beds -
and a sense of expansiveness of the garden

quite the artful litlle bugger arent you?

just imagine! an English Garden rr (as i envision one), with US trains, all nicely integrated and yet not the dreaded "train set in the back yard"

very very cool

Thank you for your more than generous comments Steve, I had done a lot of work on the garden since we bought the house back in 2002. As we lived in London at the time, I only had weekends to tend and alter it. When I started the layout in Nov 2006, it took some persuading my good lady that I would not ruin the good work and create a railway with a garden bolted on!

The mainline does indeed border or frame the lawn area but there are some 'hidden' areas like Arrowhead which are actually behind and under bushes.
