I'm looking for a suggestion or two for a simple, preferably free, video editing program (W7/64 compatible). I don't need anything too elaborate as what I have is old stock VHS (mono) which I'm slowly converting to digital.

I'm also working on a pile of ancient cine film in various gauges which is really fun (NOT), as it is in poor condition, and splices have a habit of parting before they are even off the reel, so breaks are frequent, and therefore the need to edit out from the digital copy.

I know a coupla guys out there are well into their video.

Cheers in advance.

If you have a Mac, iMovie is easy to use.

Easy to learn is just what I need, but Macs, are not . . . . . . P.C. round here! :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I'll take a look to see if it comes up though.

Cheers Greg, M/Maker is available free as you say, and so is a version of iMovie for P.C., but that is $40. I've had some editing software before but it was an absolute b%^*$ ache to use. I just want something that will allow me to (re)move sections and chop out the rubbish that inevitably accumulates.

Possibly. Movie Maker is as you said, free. iMovie is available not just for Apple, but also for P.C. but costs $40. Not that I grudge $40, but if I don't need to, why pay?

Today I downloaded M.S. Movie Maker (and other conjoined stuff). Now I just need to sit down a play with it a bit. See if I can get it to do what it's supposed to do. :sweating::sweating::(:(:worried::worried:

Cheers for the suggestions guys.

I said iMovie was easy to use. But it wasn't until I experimented with it more times than I care to mention.....:banghead:

So far I've found the file though it only reads a small part ATM. Working on it! :think::think::swear::swear:
