Suggestions please - Engineering wagon

Here's my thread about my Busted Bricks wagon from late 2012.

The Jerry Can I used for that was a resin casting from Sidelines.

BTW - Just been doing a search for jerry cans ont' web and came across this model boat supplier who has some interesting bits and bobs in 1/24th scale

He does stock jerry cans but also has other interesting stuff such as fire extinguishers and boxes of fish. Not really appropriate for my railway but someone out there might find them useful.

PS - Just been thinking. My railway is set in 1932 - weren't jerry cans invented during WWII by the German Army (hence the name)?
 
Jerry cans were only used after WWII, being an invention of the Third Reich, hence the name with square tin cans being used before then.
 
Do you reckon this was the type of petrol can which was used during the inter-war period?

If so, apart from the embossed emblems, I might be able to scratch-built a few of these ...

There Right for pre war or just after

Well, Trenarren makes those too ............. there's a "Pratts" one on the front of my Simplex. :D

You do get quite a lot for the Bachmann package - Item 92411 (list £7.00) - I tried to copy a pic from their cat.

Ordered a couple of weeks ago and arrived last week. Not had time to add them (want to do a bit of weathering as they look a bit unused straight out of the pack) - will post a photo when I do get around to adding the details - been too busy playing trains today (making the most of the sunshine)

Have added a few more bits and pieces, based on the suggestions received - thanks chaps.

I`ve decided to use this wagon mostly as a a match truck for the crane wagon and create another for platelaying to go with my Lollypop railcar. Have ordered a small chassis from IP - but not had any acknowledgement of the order - I think Ivan is moving premises is he not?

Update on this thread.

I decided to keep the original flat wagon as a match truck for the crane and make another for the permanent way gang following the suggestions made by fellow modellers on here (well the physically possible ones). So, one Hudson chassis from IP, plus a few coffee stirrers add one Bachmann tools kit =

It needed to be small to match the IP Lollypop railcar used by the permanent way gang.
