Spring sunshine on the Sandstone and Termite

Yesterday was my last chance to have a few mates around before we head off to Wales to ride those ‘little trains’. So while they were running their trains on a great sunny Sydney day, I ran a ‘Railfan Special’  utilizing historical (old) stock.

Keith’s live steam Darjeeling takes water at Ti-tree before running a railfan tour. The loco is fitted with Terry’s ‘slo-mo’  flywheel system to improve low speed running
(if you want to buy one, see:  www.smallsteamperformance.com.au  )

The railmotor, has brought the railfans from Sandstone to Ti-tree.

The railfan tour is using the old steam tram.

The tour continued behind a Climax, seen arriving at Melaleuca.

I couldn’t resist the wisteria and orange blossom – too bad you can’t smell it.  Sandstone station in foreground, then Lilyvale and Melaleuca on baseboard at rear.

The four operators discuss some live steam problem.

A great set of pictures, Greg. That shot across the garden showing the wisteria gives a fine overview of the railway. I'd forgotten about the detailing in Lilyvale (even the washing line!).
I like the concept of the Railfan Tour btw - gives a good reason for variable running.
Don't forget to tug some of that fine weather behind the plane when you come over to Wales ...... :D
