Sound Activation Magnets

Hi,

I am new to this forum and relatively new to G-scale Trains (so my apologies for my inexperience). The engine I currently have is an LGB #2080 S. The chugging sound works.

My question is does the engine have a whistle that would be triggered by magnets and if so will the knock-off hidden track magnets work or should I buy the LGB 17050 sound trigger magnets?

Good point about the two types. I have had a look underneath the engine and there are two metal rounded 'pins' that push in so I am thinking that means the engine whistle is triggered by a ramp as opposed to magnets... but maybe those are entirely unrelated to sound.
 
Thanks Steve for the tip about the battery. I made a couple makeshift ramps that work sometimes, but have not been able to source an old LGB ramp or even a picture of one so I can buy or design a more effective ramp.

If anyone knows the actual LGB product # of the old ramps or has a picture that would be helpful.
