Saxony revisited, or Four go mad in Saxony.

This line is a bit different to the others, being a true volunteers preservation business rather than a local authority funded transport cum tourist line.
Restored stock - to a very high standard

A nice surprise was in the shed. First a VIK. This is the newly proposed model from Marklin LGB

shame they were in the shed in poor light but it was still great to see them.

Absolutely fantastic, the whole lot! Am I allowed to show this to Her Nibs and suggest it may be better than a week in Derbyshire next year? :envy:

The weather was perfect Pugs.

Alan, the Johnstadt line is indeed a great restoration pretty much from scratch. In the old days of the DR it was a very contraversial closure with the authorities doing everything they could to ensure it closed even using giant Hellicopters to remove the Bridges and building Flats on the original Station site at Johnstadt. Thus (they thought) ensuring the closure would stick. You cannot allow for the tenacity of a group of enthusiastic and determined armatures.

Great set of pics,
JonD

No you cant Jon. The flats have now lost their back gardens to a newly rebuilt station, complete with run round loop which was missing until now - that required a shunt loco available at Johstadt
