If your system allows you to monitor current, you may well find you can run a two-motor unit AND a single motor loco as well..
Especially if you mainly have one in a loop, whilst running the other.
Most systems will shutdown gracefully if they are overloaded, or get too hot.

I might be tempted to say - it'll probably be fine. Some makes of loco use motors that pull a lot more current than others and a few of the big American locos actually have 4 motors!
Typically, an LGB motor will run at well under an amp - probably less than half an amp. But, fast running, heavy trains and hills will all increase the current demand significantly, and a worn motor can pull quite a bit more.
So I would say you should be OK but your near the limit.

The Harz layout is flat, indoors, with relatively clean track, and maintained stock..
We draw about 4.2Amps with a dozen loco's sitting with lights and sound, 8-ish 4-way point decoders, turntable, two (sometimes three) loco's running at once.
Visiting loco's quite often 'fizz' and spark on point-frogs, but unless running very slowly, do not cause the CS to shutdown. - Set at 7Amp limit.
These are mostly LGB loco's, of course.

I see no raisin to alter(nate) it!

So, a 2-10-2 and a 'single motor' lok normally..
I guess the point decoders don't take anything really, except when firing a point.. Ditto with the turntable.
We have more trouble with 'handing off' loco's between different Navigators.. Perhaps have to reboot Nav's a few times a (running) day, and occasionally the CS as well.
I now need to hunt-out the setting to cause a lok to stop when power goes back on after a 'red-button' moment.. It would be a lot better if they all came up stationery, than having to wrestle a number of moving loco's, all at the same time!

I'm using the Fleischmann Multmaus system with one PIKO loco without any problems. I'm also using Z21 which has a similar power output. See here:
Of course that is a single motor engine.
I'm however going to use Uhlenbrock Power 8 booster soon. It is compatible with Multimaus (tested it already), so presumably also with Z21.

Yes works fine with Z21, I've been using the previous Power 7 for several years
