Hi All, just thinking about road construction and was wondering what do you use to build roads out in the garden? Would appreciate knowing your favoured method.

Personally I'll probably settle for one of the suggested easy options, or something similar, but if you want something more realistic, have a look at this post:

I cast mine from concrete, scattering builders' sand over it while still wet. But then I'm trying to simuate a rough country road which might be found in the 1930s

I've done a step-by-step guide on my blog - but I'm still experimenting so no idea how it will weather over a period of years.

I seem to remember seeing some very realistic looking tarmac type roads on the GSM forum made with that asphalt stuff you can buy from DIY supermarkets for repairing driveways if you want something a bit more modern looking.

PS - I like your website BTW.

The best looking tarmac roads I've ever seen (and yes I made 'em) is concrete then a couple of coats of car rubberized underseal...................I will see if I can find a couple of photo's as they were on a long gone railway and I didn't bother with road's on the new one (Read didn't get around to it!!).........................
