The Rio Grande had out the Rotary OY snow plow yesterday but then encountered a technical fault with the Rotar the motor burnt out from over heating :wits:
Plow can be seen running back to the work shop after all it's hard work .

Hope to get it up and working before the next snow full so you can see the Rotar fan in action

No need for a plow today just need an ice breaker as the whole garden is a sheet of ice .:nail:
Anybody know if the Rio Grande had any such tool for ICE.

Yes they had Flangers for ice. Looks like a flat car with a plough in the centre. The plough drops down to sleeper height and rips out anything between the rails. The operator had to raise it for points and level crossings. Google rio grande flanger (it's called OC) Did the rotary throw the snow clear ok? Looks lovely.

Don't know about the Rio Grande but the Russians did!

Cut down Mig 15 on a flat

Hi Paul
Mike did bring along a Accucraft Flanger to run behind his K-27 but because of the bad weather it stayed in it's box , have looked at the idea of making one some day .My plow did throw out the snow but not for long the motor got very hot i do hope it's just a burnt wire and not the motor that needs replacing .
