Has anyone got a working one for a reasonable price as I've acquired a loco missing one but don't to buy a new one in case the loco is duff?

There are a few things that can be done to the Newqida loco to help it operate better. I have quite a few of them and have done some simple improvements, let me know if you need any help.

I am interested in the improvements as I have a motion from one that I am considering putting under a Stainz that I cannibalised to make a tank engine.
Thinking an 0-6-0 tanky but as its motor is only rated at 7.2V or so I am lead to believe I need any hints to improve the performance.

The motor is rated for 10v. But the electronics won't handle a 9.6v nimh battery. First thing is to open the transmission cover on the bottom and remove all the red test grease that they use. Replace that with better quality of grease. Maybe a little dab of oil on the plastic wheel bushings also. Check all the wheel linkages for any burs from being remove from the spru and not trimmed. Also the transmitter has two fine tuning dials hidden inside of the transmitter. To set those, place the joy stick in the "dead center" position, turn the little white knob with a small screw driver until the loco doesn't move, now you should have decent speed in either direction. Extend the antenna to get better range. Even check the flanges on the wheels for any spurs also
The motor voltage is a bit of a red herring..
You need to be aware of it, so you don't feed it too high a voltage, and burn it out.
If you are stripping-out the original electronics, you can use a 9.6V battery pack, as I believe the motor has a 10V rating?
Gear ratio's will then be the defining factor in the loco's top speed.
