Railroading Magazines

I receive a couple of magazines pertaining to both real trains and our hobby. Are we permitted to mention magazines of any publisher on our forum here ? The reason I ask is because on an "O" gauge forum I belonged to until a few days ago, I posted that the latest issue of a certain magazine about real trains is a good read. The moderator of the forum quickly let me know that mentioning magazines of a publisher not affiliated with his magazine is verboten.

I withdrew my membership in the forum, as I have found that their rules were too confining, in many ways.

Publish and be dammed.

This forum is truly a member friendly place to come each morning. I really don't want to get into a tiff with the moderator. As I have pointed out both here and on the "O" gauge forum, G Scale Central has been very open minded as was it's predecessor, G Scale Mad. The other two garden railway forums I belong to as well as the "O" gauge forum are not so inclined to welcome a bit of humor. The best term I can use is Rivet Counters.

We are interested in railways (railroads). From full size downwards.

I was a member of an Gauge 0 organization, and its associated forum seemed very elitist, though the "elder statesmen" denied this and tried to promote openness it never happened. As you have mentioned they seemed to be very much into "counting rivets", I don't have anything against this, and shows the skill of some modellers, however other "be dammed".

I started this thread some time ago and another has been added by PaulRHB on HSB books, thus far no smacks on the hand so I think no problems.

Our illustrious Leader is not (as far as I know) affiliated to any particular publisher??

As long as we are not re-publishing verbatim, and acknowledge the source.. Then I would think our Leader, and the Publisher (free publicity) would be happy?
