PULP WOOD FLAT CAR BUILD

Since i started building my logging train up using old Bachmann flat cars i thought about doing some thing a bit different with one, came across a pic in the Bachmann catalogue in the ON30 section of a Pulp Wood car looked really nice and not to hard to build also gave me a reason to use some of the 2000 coffee stirrers that I've just brought .
Started the build with the deck made it looked well used with some holes drilled in the floor with broken planks glued on top so that you can now see daylight through the holes . Wooden up wright stakes were made and coffee stirrers cut to length and glued for the slats old rusty steel rods were added for the cross bars on the top . Just needs painting and weathering next a job for Matt Varnish

Re:PULP WOOD FLAT CAR BUILD

Nice one! I shall immediately plagiarise it to make use of my spare Bachmann flat car. PS Anybody noticed that all the locos on my allegedly logging line are coal burners? It's my railway...

Hey Richie...you must get out more!

Nice Kit bash my friend. I will also plagiarise and add this to my things to do this winter....that now makes 137 jobs to do....well that is the first week taken care of..

Re:PULP WOOD FLAT CAR BUILD

Also...I was in Costas at our local Odeon cinema this evening and ordered a coffee to take in to the film, when I discovered that they had run out of stirrers. On asking I was told that there was a 'shortage' at the Costa's warehouse.....and I know why....don't I....G scale kitbashers are responsible with you being a major culprit!
Just as well that you do such a fantastic job so I don't mind using my digit to stir me coffee

Well Richie
I finished the electrics to the conversion tonight...down lighters, wall lighters and LEDs in the mirrored 'caboose' windows. Will fit the flooring surface tomorrow evening and then the new door and windows on Saturday. I just cannot wait until I am kit-bashing in this new warm place. I too have been banished from the dining room after marking the dining room table even though I had put umpteen layers of sheets/covers down. I have invested in new ball bearing tool chests and also a gas strut fold up desk (this is in the remaining part of the garage so will be in the 'cold' zone). In the new conversion will be the more 'genteel' modeling activities.

Will be thinking of you in your warm well lit garage while i'm in my cold dark garage where i can hardly move with so many layers of cloths :nail:

Can I recommend an accompanying bottle of good malt. The modelling perfection may lose its edge but the fun in the cold does raise the threshold!!

As I said the main stuff (cutting, spray-painting, etc) will still happen in the cold zone side of the garage so we can work in parrallel Richie!

Richie everything is coming along very nice. The pulpwood car is looking great. The caboose is going to look great behind the flats and log cars.
Hi Shawn
Many thanks for your comments , I'm still not sure to load the car with Pulp wood yet or keep it empty so you can see the holes in the wooden deck
Was also thinking of getting a bull dozer to go on a flat car would you know if these were used in the woods when Shays were being used ???

Re:PULP WOOD FLAT CAR BUILD

Few pic's of the Pulp wood car weathered just need to add the final bits of detail then it's finished ready for the woods .
