I once looked at the new one with a complete consist, now apart from mortgaging the house, it would be so long I could almost couple the front to the back

I hope you know you can not mix the old with the new. Newest F7 has all electronics in the A unit and the B unit just has a speaker. Decoder is Marklin.
Old F7 have sound units in the B unit, A unit has the only power pickups and speaker to be driven by the B unit.
