The Bridgewerks units are fairly bullet proof. We have a pair for our outside layout and the club we belong to has many and they have been operating for years. At home we also have an MRC Power G that we use for shows. Oh, and an MRC 6200 that has already had the power transistors replaced. It powers the test bench track.

Yep, you would be making the same mistake again.

And I have to disagree with Nathan, many people that have the MRC 6200, which appears to be the right fit, have had output transistors blow up... quite common since you can find videos on how to repair them on youtube!

Greg

Greg is 100% correct. I finally got tired of replacing transistors in the MRC 6xxx and 7xxx series powerpacks and put together a cludge (an instant and dirty computer system) of old mainframe parts. 8 years ago...

Thank you all for your input. Converting from DC to RC is going to take a while for each new loco I buy so it will be nice to have a decent power system for running any of my locos via track power.
