Potential con, maybe?

I may have been done on that purchase site, won a B I N, 3 way point, paid for it via pay pal, all straight forward to my eyes, only to have the purchase cancelled, it appears and a pending refund from the seller, within a hour or so.

The point is for sale again at the same price, didn't think they could do that?

It's even disappeared from my purchase history list as well.

I'd register a complaint with fleabay! Very annoying indeed.

The only "evidence" I have that any transaction has/is taken place is on Pay Pal. I know it's technically Ebay, but not sure if it would count as far as they are concerned?

Very strange. If it's the one I can see then it's from a regular seller of railway items, mainly G scale, with good feedback history. If you have your money back I don't see where the con is. Could there be anything in your own eBay history that could have triggered it? Have you messaged the seller yet? EBay has certainly been known to have the odd hiccup on occasions.

I hit the B I N button and paid for it via pay pal, and received the transaction confirmation and asking the seller to send me the point, email just after 6 pm.

Confirming what my ebay purchase (won) listing stated.

Then by 9 pm pay pal pending refund, and its gone from my purchase listings.

So no point, money going out (which I may not have some control over.) and refund from seller coming in (which I have no control over.)

Reluctant to try and buy it again, until after the refund hits, as I could end up paying twice for it.

Will see if the seller can shed any light on the matter, awaiting a reply.

Ok seller has no idea what went wrong was looking OK at his end, then payment got returned.

So that is purchase OK at both ends.

So it looks like it's Pay Pal, but the info on my account states seller returned payment, strange indeed.

Gordon, there is a facility for a seller to suspend acceptance of incoming payments until he agrees to have it credited to his account. This is sometimes used where stocks are limited and the seller is not available to monitor what's left or the item is also listed for sale elsewhere. Could be that is what happened and the wrong option was selected when your order was reviewed.

Problem solved, maybe.

Turns out the seller is not currently in the UK and tried to pass on the post it out notice to a family member, looks as if a fraud filter took exception to this and cancelled the transaction.

Second time is a charm, up to now.

No payments taken yet, but the point is on it's way...:)

Recently ebay seems to have become more concerned with sellers circumnavigating the system (and the fees) and has installed quite a lot of 'anti-fraud' trips.
