Hello
Not long ago, I bought a new old stock Aristo Daylight FA-1 on Ebay. It is in good condition with good wheel tyres. However, quite quickly now it begins to run very uneven and jerky suggesting poor power pick up. I have checked out the usual problems with the braids to the side frames and bearings and they are all OK. I have also cleaned the wheels.
However, I find that if I apply inward pressure to the outside of the axle boxes it improves pickup suggesting the problem is in the outer wheel bearings. I have tried LGB conducting lubricant grease on the bearings but to no avail.
Any ideas? Is there an approved Aristo-Craft grease?

Check for poor soldered joints ( if it has them) used to find that this was the cause of much of my frustration with poor running with Aristo & USA T locos.

Worth inverting the loco and checking each wheel & skate individually with flying leads to see which wheels are the culprits!

Hello Steve
Checked all of that and they are all present and correct. No skates on Aristo locos. All axles are powered but not all pick up. If you press inwards on the axle boxes, they work. I noticed on the exploded diagram that there are spring assisted brushes in there (or not) and I may try that.
