POLA lineside poles modification

This is a simple modification to the POLA 331024 10 STROOMMASTEN kit. This kit has 10 x G scale (1:22.5) poles, 6 low voltage poles and 4 high voltage.

On the prototype, to handle curves in the line of poles, supports were required to resist the tension of the wires pulling the poles down towards the centre of the curve radius. This is especially the case with narrow gauge railways where curves are tighter and the inward tension greater. Picture below shows what I mean.

To create a model of these supported poles, assemble a low voltage pole and a high voltage mast. Remove the electricity mast head and cut 40 mm off the end. Trim one side of the bevelled top of the mast to make the required angle. Cut a 37 mm piece of sprue from the kit to act as a spacer between the bases. Glue together, paint the "pots" white and job done. Picture below.

Neat, and a nice pic of the Zittau line

Next time I am at Glendale Junction I will be getting anither pack of Bachman Poles to do just the mkds that you have. On the line that I model they also have supports in places to the Side of the Pole, occasionally 2.

I am taking it. that you don't have larger locos or bogie stock, as it might be a bit close to the overhang on the inside.
I do have larger locos and bogie wagons and passenger cars. The pole in the picture is normally at the other side of the track, I moved it for illustration purposes.
