Piko 36198 Sound Modul

Hello
I have fitted one of these to my Bachmann Anny together with a PIKO decoder. My problem is that the chuff sound is not continuous and comes and goes as the loco runs. The loco runs fine and the sound functions all work bar the chuff sound. Pressing F1 sometimes produces a short lived success and other times the chuff deteriorates into a loud buzzing noise. Any ideas?

That does sound (no pun intended) like a faulty unit, Bill. On most sound units the chuff should stop for a while when you REDUCE the speed, to simulate the loco ""coasting" as it slows down, and then the chuff should pick up again as it settles to the lower speed setting - but other than that special case, the chuff should be pretty much continuous and it certainly shouldn't be making a buzzing noise!

If you bought the sound unit recently, although it will be a bit of a hassle to take it out of the loco I would do so and return it to the dealer you got it from.

Jon.

Yep. So would I
