Petrol railmotor (aka Shed on wheels)

Re:Railmotor 2

I've just finished building the IP Engineering Wickham railcar that uses a small 3v motor. It fairly wizzes along. I've also built a smaller version of the above railcar using a small Andel workmans coach, again using just a 3v motor and that goes OK as well, although the driven front wheels slip a bit due to the low weight of the vehicle.

Re:Railmotor 2

After seeing Doug's use of the 3 volt motor, I converted my railbus from track to battery using the same simple set-up. The wheels are quite large diameter (around 40mm if I remember correctly). The pic of it running is on a 1:30 grade!

Re:Railmotor 2

well the plan is to convert the trailer to gauge 3 and keep the power car for 45mm. The chassis needs to be raised up so planning on using GRS wagon wheels and need a gearbox for it, may opt for one of theirs now.

Here's a pic of my completed IP Engineering Wickham Trolley, running on the Flatlands Light Railway. It managed to pull the wagon it was being carried on with no problems. Also pulled a wagon with a heavy die-cast farm tractor as a load
