Yeah, fellow Austrian modeller Andy Reed was the force behind removal of traction tires. The kicker tho is finding replacement (non traction tire) wheels, so I never did it myself.

What I can tell you is I did have some stalling from my small Toytrain loco today which does have no tires and two skates...

This is why you also need to electricaly link single motor small loco's with an MU cable...........Also as Paul does...........Taught by a man called Small.........................

...also a Charles S. in there. Back from his bus-bar days! Almost wonder if LGB got the idea for....

Yeah, Andy has and had a lot of good input for us Austrian modellers.

Having read this thread, I rushed into the workshop and removed the traction tyre from my 0-4-0, which has a Stainz chassis.

Suddenly, no hesitation on points, and apparently better running with no sudden pauses on dirty bits of track.

I'm impressed.

Thank you everyone

My Stainz doesn't have any problems and the traction tire is still in place. Do you suppose the batteries powering it have anything to do with it?

Yeah, until they are flat and need replaced....then what happens?:D

So when they go flat is that like a tyre? only goes flat on the bottom????????

No, more like a basket ball....useless!
