Hello I have a question about Ozark miniatures bolt heads on my trestle. Will they rust? Or should I coat them ? I may let them weather natural . They are some kind of metal ..

They are cast metal - Zamak (Mazak - or monkey metal as my dad used to call it!). It may break down over time (the wood will probably go before the metal) and will show a white oxidisation. You could always get an artist's pointed brush and paint them a suitable rust color.

Or you could do a Casey to them. Put some PVA on them, Sprinkle Iron Filings on them then paint with some Vinigar. Next day rusted bolts! They will not break down with the rust due to the composition of the original moulds. This method works on Plastic as well.

Thanks Guys. Which ever method I use I do think they are to new looking. They need dirtied up lol.
