Clamped another piece to it,
cut out around & smoothed to identical shapes

And with Garratt

now I can see clearances, joint of dogleg to main girder can be adjusted

QUOTE(vsmith @ Aug 27 2009, )
Great video! Impressive layout!

I never asked but is this layout track powered or battery R/C ???

Dons reply...

Vic, it started off as track powered, but the drop out from the trees, and the general leaf debris,

OH and windfall apples & plums, tended to cover the rails with an insulating coat, so have gone over to battery power

The Garratt has its own onboard batteries ( ex wheelchair)

T Urn & Barcelona, with no room for all the gubbins on board, share the use of a battery control wagon, the one in the vid with the new black tarpualin on.
But I will be making some more control wagons of widely different shapes to vary what they pull, by being interchangable

Re: Options for avoiding a sharp corner, Also on a severe gradient ( Hind sight is wonderful)

A few months back I was looking for a suitable boat that could negotiate the canal tunnel into the basin but still have a mast.

Did a Google & found that a Norfolk Wherry filled the bill ( drop mast for bridges etc.)
nothing suitable on ebay then, so saved the search, last week one came up, I was the only bidder & got it fot 4.99!! ( plus post of course)

Arrived in the basin today.

Pity there is a landlubber on board tho!!

Mast & sail raised after coming in thro the tunnel to dry off sails before furling.
