Older LGB Switches

I purchased what appears to be some older LGB electric switches. The turnouts have a split in the rails and the electric thrower has 3 screw posts on the end. Any info would help, such as when they were made, how to connect them, and are they as good as the newer ones. Thanks zman

The motors are DC. You power them using a double throw passing contact switch - much like most OO/HO kit. One switched feed wire is fed to each outer terminal and the center one is the common return.
You do need a passing contact switch which only gives a short pulse of power - a normal switch will burn out the motor. Or some people use push buttons or stud contact - anything that gives a 'momentry' contact.

These three connection motors are very much like small scale (0 / 00 / H0) point motors, a capacitor discharge unit is often use to power them.

You can tie diodes (one is reversed) to the outer terminals of the EPL drive and run 2 wires to the LGB 5075 momentary controller. One to the diode pair and the other to the center terminal.

no. the switches and/or reed contacts have the diodes built in.

While looking for info on the LGB 5000 transformer I came across this on page 10 the 0021 EPL-Technik brochure. It shows how the diodes should be wired to control EPL devices with the old 5075 control box.

Edit added: This shows what Dan is explaining. But, I just realized this doesn't answer the OP question. Either of the LGB control boxes 5075 or 5075N will operate the switches as will the setup shown by Stockers.
