Just a short video of my latest interest, not large scale but close enough ;)

This is an O-27 layout based on what a small fixed model train layout might have looked like circa 1940. Mechanical trains, litho accessories, painted sceneryand NO electricity. Mostly Marx trains as they are much more affordable than Lionel. I will be rebuilding this layout soon into something more elaborate but still able to run my oldies on.

That must have been fun!

I remember playing with clockwork trains in the early 50s, and still recall with great fondness the noise, and the smell of the sewing machine oil used to lubricate the motors.

No electricity, so why the third rail?

Love the spam opener sticking out of the yellow banana

They have a charm all of their own and they are in fantastic condition.

Nice....

wow... are they really that old or replicas?

The Rail Zepplin on top is a repro, but the M-10000 is pre-war likely 1939, and the other steamie is also.

The top circle is also the only original track, the rest is new O-27 track as its really cheap, only $1.50 a section!

I just picked up a 1950s Marx Diesel and a restored Marx 666 which is why I will be adding with track power and why I chose to use new 3 rail, I was always planning on possibly having track powered trains along with the mechanicals. The rebuilding is for me to keep interested.

Like the 3-car streamliner, even with the key. Was there an assistant to stop and start the trains off-camera?.

I too started on the floor with O gauge tinplate; Hornby clockwork in the 1950s in my case, with a mixture of Grouping and early BR liveries. Had a spare bedroom to run it in, but had to take everything up each time at the end of the school holidays. At least it made me invent a different layout each time.

I have a Flyer O clockwork loco that has seen several genrations of play....oldie with a die cast body. Great stuff Vic!
