Can you get out as far as St. Mary Cray, near Orpington (still inside the M25)?
Kent Garden Railways has quite a lot of it on the shelf in their excellent and much enlarged new shop (right next door to their very tiny old shop), I called in for a look last Friday.

Jon.

Also as above, I went in on Saturday and saw a good range of NQD stuff. It's well worth a visit too, I left clutching a pair of second hand Piko three wheel coaches...

The STO Racing Products Website still appears to be active. Maybe you can still buy online.

Perhaps i should of mentioned the word coaches:bigsmile:

I have added two steel bars into each of my coaches, together with metal wheels. That has made them run in much better way. I think they weigh about 1lbs and a half.

I've just made my first and last purchase of Newquida items. Two DR type gondolas arrived today. I purchased them off of Ebay. First, let me note that the price, $19.00 for the pair, new in the box, was too tempting to pass up. That said, I had planned to reduce the length of them to better fit my overall scheme, which I did tonight, with the help of my table saw. I took roughly 3" out of the center of each car. Now I am happy with their appearance. As for the quality of the cars, well that's another issue. I replaced the plastic wheels with metal. All of the screws that hold the truck frames together, the under-carriage, and so forth do not tighten properly. They feel like they are stripped, but don't feel like they will fall out too easily. The screws are small and poorly made. The plastic just does not have the feel of the LGB plastic I am used to. I am probably being biased having been a fan of LGB for so long. All of that said, for the price I did get two freight cars that will be run as all of my stock is run, and not purchased to sit on a shelf or in boxes. Time will tell how well these two cars hold up.

Dan,
just ask yourself again - "How much did I pay for two pieces of rolling stock?" $19.00 does not even buy two take-away pizzas out here, or a couple of burgers and 'fries' at Maccas.

Just a small suggestion. If you are a little worried about the possible 'stripped skrews', just remove them one by one and drop a little Humbrol Filler (or any other) in the hole with say a cocktail stick. Then a little on each skrew and replace skrew in hole. The filler will tend to remake the thread for you. This also works on stripped LGB plastic, yes it does happen.

Tim, I agree 100%. I am just spoiled by LGB.

Good Idea Jon. One other tid bit I didn't mention last night was the body fit. On one end of one of the cars, it looks like when the assembler put the glue on the corners, they took too long getting them together. The joints are open by at least 1/16". Again, all of this sounds like a spoiled brat talking. But I guess, like I mentioned, LGB had spoiled us.
