Hi Everyone,

I'm new to G scale, my girlfriend recently purchased me some track and a RhB Ge 4/4 iii which was a nice surprise! I also have a RhB stake wagon, RhB sliding wall car, and RhB container wagon.

Looking forward to building a permanent setup one day.

Does anyone know if the latest LGB Ge 4/4 iii come with interior cab lights?

If anyone knows a good supplier of RhB trackside accessories can you let me know.

Thanks, Tom.

Most of the IK Garden Railway shops may have some suitable, Garden Railway Specialists, Kent Garden Railways come to mind immediately but there are others. Try to get a look at the UK Magazine Garden Rail magazine that will have plenty of other advertisers. Though it may seam counter intuitive, membership of the 16 Association is a good step, though predominantly (allegedly) for 32mm track and the 16mm scale, many members are in 45 track and think like us. Plus many G scale suppliers UK advertise in here as well.

Welcome to the forum. Large scale model shops are like hens teeth at present, so, unfortunately your best option is on line.
Seems Jersey is becoming a little hot spot for G Scale!

Tom welcome to the forum, plenty of advice here for a newcomer, but try the search facility first, as most (if not all) questions have been asked before, though things do move forward. WE like to see photos of your progress, and I am sure you will soon notice the dodgy humour on the site.

As others have said, "Welcome!"..

Possibly, curtis curtis is your nearest Forumite, and can point you in the right direction.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, there is always more than one way to solve a problem..
You are already ahead of the game, as you have decided on your prototype. - Though no-doubt the odd 'visitor' will find a place in your roster?

Enjoy!

I am the closest forumite. In fact, Tom is a friend of mine who helps me by operating the layout on our Open Days for which I'm extremely grateful!

This spring, the HSBA will need various pieces of work along the line to accommodate Tom's longer modern stock until his layout is finished. :smirk:

On the GE 4/4 III, Tom and I can see the moulding for a light but can't necessarily see a bulb/etc. Not sure if it's a legacy of the mould or we're just being dense. Wanted to try and check before resorting to opening it up!

Have you looked at the exploded diagrams, and for a clue in the instructions?

I have a feeling it may (in effect) be a common bulb for the cab-light, and top headlight?

Not had one on the bench for years..

Welcome to the forum Tom.

Just a thought, but could the cab lights be controlled by a Function on the Navi?

Might be worth checking before disassembly....

Hi and welcome Tom. What sort of trackside accessories are you looking for ? Structures or lineside detailing ? Items, from small to large, are available widely on-line from makers like Pola and Piko. Either from established shop stockists or eBay traders. Here is one I have used, usually have a wide range in stock Aankleding

These are styrene kits with usually fully painted with weathered finishes. Some will be generic others may be near prototypical or styled after RhB items. With the boom in 3D printing there are very fine models of specific artifacts now being made available - once created the print files can be scaled to suit just about any size wanted.

Perhaps more information would be available on a more RhB oriented forum or FB group. There are a host of suppliers of small general detailing items from a range of UK based artisan producers. Have a look at both the 16 mm NGM https://www.16mm.org.uk/resources/useful-links/ and G Scale Society Buy G-Scale | G-Scale Society Zsupplier links. There are one or two RhB fans here who can advise you too. Hope this helps, Max

Hi Tom, I have GE 4/4 in MOB blue and cream that dates back to the 00s, In mine (now full converted to RC) it didnt have a cab ceiling light as the light in the cab comes from the instrument panel lighting up.. There are quite a few LEDs on the screen and dashboard which i have not bothered with in my RC set up.

Hi Maxi Model,

I was after lineside detailing, I have found a company that makes a verity of signaling equipment and LGB make the RhB buffers and RhB switch indicators.

So thinks like signage, figures, loads, lineside boxes and equipment etc...

Hullo Tom,

I'm a member of an RhB forum hosted by Paul RhB who used to frequent this forum.

It might be worth sending him a PM as I believe he still visits here occasionally....
