Thank you for the addition into the group. A lot to be learned by me. Plan is to start on a 34' square garden railway soon. I will most likely go with DCC-EX for control, but remain ignorant of all things DCC at this point. Locos ranged from Bachmann shay to Aristo and LGB, with a Heartland or 2 in the mix. I have a LOT of reading to do on this site. Again, thank you to all.

Welcome to the forum Tat, if you have not yet indulged in a DCC setup have you considered dead rail ie battery on board control. Lots of good systems in US with even the option to control DCC locomotives if you have them already fitted. No track cleaning, no track wiring. Plenty of ‘how to’s’ in the battery section of the forum.

Welcome! Frankly, the only folks I know to run large-scale with DCC are the continentals - Germans, Swiss etc, with their humongous scenic'd Gauge 1 scale tracks and ten-thousand dollar models.

And our friend Greg Elmassian in the US of A...... ;)

Talking of EU-pean outline...
Malc's Models have a humongous selection of LGB European loco's on sale at Llanfair..

Welcome to the forum, lots of advice available on DCC, live or dead rail, both have pros and cons, some even have both.
Just beware of the humour!

Welcome aboard Tattman22.

Welcome to the group from North Carolina. A lot of good people here they will make you feel welcomed. I use battery and radio control. I highly recommend the blunami system which came out about a year and a half ago. Gives you sound and control. I love it and relatively low $

I am in Massachusetts, USA and I and others (6 of us) in my club run DCC and others run DC only. DCC in large scale is about 1/4 of our club members. Most of the others are DC only. Main issues are cost and understanding of electronics which is needed for DCC and Battery. Myself I use Zimo and 2 others have Zimo and there are users of ESU, and battery users also. Track power is the power most are using.

Thank you all for the responses. A sense of humor as you get older is mandatory. No sense of humor and you are out like a fat kid in dodgeball

Watch it…LOL…i remember that.
Welcome.
