New Cable Cars On The Cfr.

Morning Casey, see you been spending at Glendale again. Very nice.

Good morning Jon, the gondolas were purchased from Glendale last September. I also have two sets of cable chairs which will be sited somewhere on the CFR in due course.

You have given me renewed inspiration to get my Rigi cable cars set up. Just need to check with SWMBO as to where she will allow them.

Man up - he says - ducking!

Hi Casey ..would like to know about your motor set up........especially automatic reversing.........I am modifying my Rigi to run on cables with a with a separate towing loop and getting to the stage of power and switching......ideally would like a delay circuit.......believe there is a circuit using the 555 ???? Regards.....Mal R.

Mal, when the cable cars were first set up we used a custom built timed reversing unit fitted to the original motor. Time intervals were random and varied between 10 seconds and five minutes. This unit worked well for about five years and then gave up the ghost. We tried to source a suitable replacement without much luck, so we reverted to manual reversing using a toggle switch to change polarity and direction. This set up has been operating for ten years. In fact the entire power unit has been in use for the last sixteen years.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg The old LGB Rigi motor finally gave up the ghost, so the opportunity was taken to remove the cable car stations for refurbishment. They have been replaced by the Jagerndorf Stations and small gondolas. I also have a number of chairs but these cannot be used until the cable ties have been removed from the lower station.
