I have 2 BACHMANN Big Hauler loco's. They will only pul 7-8 cars. I want longer car trains. What style loco shoudl I buy ? Will a diesel pull more ?
What loco has all 6 wheels pulling instead of ony 4 on a 4-6-0 typical configuration ?
Thx Mike

It's not just the number of driving wheels, but the gearing, weight, strength of the drivetrain, etc. As you have found, the Big Haulers are not them.

What kind of loco? Well, a Mikado for heavy freight would do the trick.

Thx for the reco. Looking at LGB's site, it says: Making a locomotive with a long rigid wheelbase, like this 2-8-2, negotiate such sharp curves is a problem.
I have some R-1 and R-2 curves, so may be an issue for me. Thx anyway. Had not heard of this model from LGB.

Long trains and R1 curves do not mix. Perhaps you should adjust your expectations.

If you really need tight curves and long trains, look at MTH in 1:32 scale, they are able to handle toy-like curves. The sound and smoke systems are amazing... look for videos on youtube.
