I have had to return mine to Massoth, mine keeps going to sleep.
Sounds like a similar problem Roly
I have also returned the receiver just in case.
BTW have you tried it tethered?

Roly,

Have you tried resetting the Navigator back to factory settings?

Performing a factory reset will loose any data stores within and any changed configuration settings.

Do the following with the unit teathered:
M3 (Menu) -> Select "Navigaror Config" (M1 repeatedly) -> M2 (OK) -> Select "More..." (M1 repeatedly) -> M2 (OK) -> Select "Factory Reset" (M1 rpeatedly) -> M2 (OK)

It should take abt 40 seconds. See the Navigator Manual (section 5.4.6 i think) http://www.massoth.com/downloads/handbuch/8134001_v150_0707_en.pdf

If that does not sort it try reflashing the firmware or speaking to people at Massoth (call the hotline on a Monday PM (1300-1630 Uk time) or Thursday AM (0700-1100 Uk time) on +49 6151 35077 38.

When the train stops, are the 55080's eminating a repeated clicking noise? If they are then they are constantly attempting to switch track power bias due to a short that is not resolved by the bias switch.

BTW, what central station are you using? MTS3/1200Z/800Z ?
