National Garden Railway Show Peterborough 2021 - who's going??

Retired, but still hoarding. (GOF)

There has been no post on the original thread about this show since April. I checked the 16mm website and it's still on. I've got my ticket for the early shift and hope to be near the front of the queue at kick-off. Who else is going and do we meet up? I have some bits which I am bringing for forumites who should also be attending. Anyone else need anything?

Love to, but as I'm the main carer for my 100yo mum, I'm not prepared to risk mixing with crowds of people. Although we've had both jabs, I'm not sure how she'd be if I passed on the Delta variant to her.

I hope you have a great time. I'm sure it'll be a really impressive event!

I'll be on the IOM 15mil group stand for both sessions; I'll be the one with the Manx tartan face mask. Unlike previous years, I haven't got a shopping list...yet.

Mike, I will be arriving for the early shift as well.

Due to da paper-round..
We will there for the afternoon session.

I will be at the show all day, I will be part of the operating team of the Up cycling Pop Up Railway located in the yellow section.

Not going, not confident to go to Shows just yet even though double jabbed and most present will likely be as well.

I have booked for the AM, early start, catching the 06.20, going via London!!
An update on the show web site says if not enough tickets are sold then people attending the morning session will be offered tickets for the pm when they leave, and (I presume) if you turn up early for the afternoon session, early admittance.

Are we meeting up, (six foot apart of course )
I'll be wearing a mask :mask:

I thought it was if you turned up for the agm and had a morning ticket?

Whichever, means they are not splitting the risk, and potential number of people who could be told to self-isolate..
I am not happy about that.

Ah, but the density of attendees will not be above the original plan for the PM session. Max

It is not only the density..

If you have two separate sessions, then there are two distinct groups.. By letting people across the two sessions, you are increasing the potential (however small) risk of cross-contaminating between the two groups.

My guess is, that both sessions will hopefully sell-out, so that risk will go away.

The membership of each group, am/pm, is random. The maximum number in each group possible is fixed..The number/proportion of each group who might create an infection risk is random too. The only additional risk is to individuals from the am group who choose to make up the numbers to attend the afternoon session. They will increase their own personal risk only by vitue of time of potential exposure to infection, never mind the health status of anybody they have been/will be near to for the total duration, again totally random.. They do not change the probability of potential infection of those attending the PM session, the risk is still random and the numbers to the maximum limit of participants set. So, on that person's head be it. Well, that is how I see it but I am sure an epidemiologist or a contributor the BBC R4's show "More or less" could provide a definitive answer:) Max

Those attending the afternoon session, are at a slightly higher risk than those attending in the morning, just by virtue of those there in the morning having passed by the exhibitors and staff.

Be that as it may, and I may shed a tear at not attending, I think in my particular circumstances I will not attend..

Mum's funeral is not until the 9th July, any track and trace instruction generated by attending the show (I hope there aren't any) will not appear before the Tuesday after the show.
It would be a bare ten days from then to the 9th.

As they say.. Timing is everything.
