The combined tractive effort from Union Pacific's Bigboy and Erie's triplex offer in excess of 295000 lbs. This is power of titanic proportions. See you on the moon (by coal)

I am not familiar with the operation of the Tri-plex. In the video, I noticed a small stack at the rear of it's tender. What is it?

The middle set of cylinders are the high pressure set, they exhaust into the front and rear set of cylinders with the front cylinders then using the front stack and the aft cylinders exhausting via a feed water heater through a small stack in the rear of the locomotive.

Excellent vid and awesome locomotives.

Excellent stuff. I like the fact that the triplex has a smoke unit on the tender stack, with an appropriately wispy bit of smoke coming out.
Ah well, time to get SWMBO out chopping wood so she can afford to buy me one for Christmas... although I'm not sure which one !
