I decided to follow up on my 1840s era locomotive with another scratch build. This time it's steam narrow gauge locomotive. Again, I have been relying on wooden parts and other pieces I already have in my junk box, although I did have to go out and buy a sheet of brass, styrene, and a train's bell. The bell ends up being too large, but I may use it anyway. The wheels are metal washers, the boiler is a broom-handle sized dowel and lots of bits of brass and steel wires. I will post a few final photos once it is completed.

Here are some photos of the final effort. Steam locomotive experts - please don't pay attention to the pipes that go nowhere, the rear axle passing through the firebox (if there was one!), and other minor engineering blemishes. There were some challenges. One was trying to get the smoke stack to assume a symmetrical shape. I made three of these, throwing out two of them before settling on the least flawed. Still, I am pleased with the overall look of things. And I am glad that I was able to source 99% of it from spare parts and leftovers from previous tram and ship projects.
