Vey nice steven!
how do you paint your railroad cars?...

Phil

Hi Steve
Lovely heavy duty weathering goin' on there. Your railroad must work very hard. The loco looks impressive with the extra bits and bobs, sort of logging line Shay-like. Gives it the feeling of a deep south short line.
Nice one mate.

Phil
thks phil for yr kind comments.........here is simple way for u.......

1......BOXCARS..take the wheels off with bogies as well.....put little paint of acryilla (earth brown) and dab on any paper til it light then just flicked it with fan paint brushes on bogies..til u see little brown on it..leave til dry....same as wheels...til u want lightly or heavy.....up to u.....

2.......ROOF+SIDEWALK TOP......paint rusty colour on it til it covered....i paint it about 3 times coz i want look good..when it fully dry up...u can use earth brown on it like flicked it or u use yr finger tips to rub it down and up like a streak..........then paint dark brown on side walk on the roof.......in the middle of the roof

3.......SIDE BODY....END BODY..use earth brown and put in on like a painting but u use yr finger tip rub up and down..like streak....if go wrong..simple just wash off and start agian...........BEST way pactice on yr old boxcar til u learn it..save hassle..if happy,,use yr another one til u happy......to be honest im not experince as weathering it....coz someone told me and hw to do it...then i learn til im done......

4......BOTTOM where the bogie and wheels is.....take all off...then u just weathering all over til u happy like dirty and rusty..................

5......KNUCKLE COUPLERS.. same earth brown...bit of rust.......

6......hope if that help u.............cheers............i dont use airbrushing or pastels....just use acryilla paint..non smell...wash off in water.......
take care...........thks

Yeh really nice especially wagons. I want to do some of mine but I am worried it will go wrong and i'll wreck them....

NW2 almost looks scary- I can imagine some gansters using it to tie up and run over their rivals in some disused yard lol

Hi Steven
Looks like you've been busy again love what you've done with your switcher and the weathering of your stock is first class are you thinking of adding real coal to your hopper , i did with mine and it made a big difference .

Hi Steven
If you remove the coal load from the body place it on some news paper and cover the the plastic coal with white PVA glue i used Unibond then put some lumps of coal in a bag and smash up with a hammer then pour the coal dust over the load allow to dry and brush off any bits that haven't stuck . Job done have done this with all my steam locos too .The rust on my hopper was done with acrylic paints with reds and yellows mixed have now got myself some powders but haven't tryed them yet .

That is one mean mother of a loco Steven. Is that the one you use on the Junk yard Express? You amaze me with all your ideas that you put into practice. Well done.

Try this site Steven. You will see some interesting wagons on here. http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/ < Link To www.rr-fallenflags.org

Yes you definitely will !
thanks Stuart for the pointers to the sites the other day when you visited the railroad grotto that is me garage. There are a lot of very inspiring images on the sites including the site mentioned here. Plenty of ammo for good weatherin' and customising to be done.

Your stock really blends in with the environment. A very good subtle effect.
Nice line too!
