I was running my Aristo Pacific yesterday, I put a My Loco Sound unit in it, after reading about it on GSM. My wife was out and commented how nice she thought it sounded, compared to other sound units. I was surprised!

Peter,
I think it would be nice if you could program the whistle to go off every once in a while on a random time interval so one does not have to bother with other methods of setting it off.

What make and details are these ? as I am still undecided about which to use for the best, i use Locolinc for control and have most my locos wired up with that, I understand that I need to fit an opto isolator or coupler?

Jerry,

I was thinking of doing that and posted a question on GSM a few months ago to see what people thought. Generally the response was not enthusiastic.

As a result, the solution would be to make it a switchable option and no doubt we will include it next time we redesign the hardware. In the meantime, we have added an automatic whistle (or horn) which sounds each time the loco starts off.

Thanks for the suggestion
Peter

Very impressive!! I like the way the engine sounds more laboured as the chuff rate slows - the whistle sounds just right too. I'm very tempted by battery power too. Not only would it do away with all that track cleaning, it overcomes the stuttering which you get when the loco encounters any mucky bits of track. Just a bit concerned about how much running time you get from each charge.

Rik

Virtually as long as you want.
Depending on how you wire the batteries in the loco.
