At some point, Maxwell Hemmnes released their Porter model in two versions. I believe the first version had a wood cab and a wood tender. The second was all metal cab and tender. If someone in this group knows which came first, I would like to know.
Now, onto the reason for this post. I have the all-metal version, but I prefer the wooden look. So I thought I'd try my hand at transforming the tender. I had a veneer skin, about 1/16” thick, and purchased some hardwood paint stirring boards that are 1/8” thick and ripped them down into strips. I intended to make the piece removable and in two pieces.
The skin slides in place, fits snug, and I used “sticky dots” to hold it in place. Figure 1 shows the start, and the sticky dot roll can be seen in Figure4.
The pics show the change.
